"Hope has two beautiful daughters: their names are anger and courage. Anger that things are the way they are and courage to make them the way they ought to be.” ~St. Augustine
Life happens. People wrong you...you respond. The fallenness of this world crushes your dreams.
It is impossible to get through this life without being significantly wounded and brought to your knees.
Is there hope in these moments? Is God paying attention? What in the world is He doing? Can I count on Him?
These are age-old questions--familiar ones to the Old Testament poets. The psalm-writer David wrote about walking "through the valley of the shadow of death." Another psalm-writer described the hopelessness quite eloquently... Psalm 88 begins with "Where are you, God?" and ends with "Darkness is my closest friend."
Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, loss, or tragedy there are good, faithful answers for your questions. You can learn skillful ways to navigate the treacherous waters of conflict and loss. You can find true hope. If you are confused about which way to go or how to cope with a difficult situation I would love the opportunity to help you find your way through.
I will journey with you through the darkness. I will bear witness to your suffering. I will point you toward Truth. Using powerful techniques drawn from cognitive-behavioral theory shaped by Biblical truth, I will endeavor to help you find the hope, courage, and faith to persevere through your trials and come to a place of healing and thriving. To that end I will assign you reading, writing, memorizing, and relating homework--all designed to help you along the journey toward wholeness and the purposes for which God designed you.
